Most successful conductors at the 'areas'

31 Mar 2013

After drawing a blank in all three of his area contests this year, Nick Childs must wait at least another year to try to close the gap on Major Parkes' record haul of championship section victories.  Robert Childs and Garry Cutt also missed out this year with their sole attempt, and Melvin White attempted the rare (and remarkable) feat of conducting three bands in the SAME area (London & SC) but to no avail.

It is therefore 'as you were' in the table of conductors with 10 or more area titles to their name as shown below:

30 wins - Major Peter Parkes
24 - Dr Nicholas Childs
16 - Harry Mortimer, Walter Hargreaves
15 - Howard Snell
13 - Alex Mortimer
12 - Melvin White
11 - Eric Ball, Stanley Boddington, Dr Robert Childs
10 - Dr Keith Wilkinson, Richard Evans, Garry Cutt

Congratulations to Dave Lea and Alan Duguid for winning their first top section titles this year.  This year's other winning conductors, and their total wins, are as follows:

 5 - Ray Farr
 4 - Ian Porthouse
 3 - Paul Holland
2 - Phillip McCann, Michael Bach, Steve Sykes
