The list of winners of the 2013 area contest series is one of the least experienced collection of bands, in terms of their previous wins, for 20 years or so. Jaguar land Rover, Tongwynlais Temperance and NASUWT Riverside Brass each collected their first-ever titles, with Regent Brass winning their second and Carlton Main only their fifth.

Flowers won the eighth title in their relatively short history but the table of bands with 10 or more titles remains largely unchanged. Leyland defended their title to squeeze on to the bottom of the table and Whitburn's 17th Scottish Championship title, but 16th area title, moves them up to 9th place on their own in the all-time ranking.
