A National Championship title at last!
David King finally added a long-cherished National title to his illustrious CV at the 15th time of asking. Four runners-up placings, three of them with YBS, were hard to bear given his success elsewhere in the 'majors' (10 Europeans, 4 Opens, 3 Masters), but Brighouse's success has finally allowed him to break his duck.
David King's tally of 18 'major' titles brings him to within 3 of the doyen of successful conductors, Major Peter Parkes, and 6 clear of the next best of current conductors (Allan Withington).
